MyYankeeStory’s idea came about as a result of a combination of several factors, mainly, the impending loss of the original Stadium in 2008, coupled with the huge fan base spread around the U.S. as well as overseas. These factors clearly underscored the lack of a comprehensive fun platform for fans to interact.
Also, in order to pay homage to the 85-year-old historic Yankee Stadium and the great players who once graced the field, we came up with the idea of enabling fans to express and immortalize their send-off about the stadium.
Our initial and ongoing objective is to engage fans in more interactive ways “by marrying sports & technology” to create better fan engagement. Finally, we searched but couldn’t find existing social sites that satisfied our needs. So we decided to create something new which represents our values and The Yankees Pride. Basically we created a customized social lounge where true Yankee Fans can chill and feel at home.
MYS is different from other social sites because as a fan you will always have more fun, there’s nothing like it out there for true Yankeemaniacs.
Finally, the MYS site serves as a celebration platform; for the new Stadium, the 2009 World Series Championship, as well as, a working dedication to the greatest fans, confirmed by Derek Jeter.
